Brent has served as a Managing Director of Northgate since co-founding the firm in 2000. He has been an investor in Silicon Valley’s premier venture capital funds as well as an angel investor in several silicon valley start-ups including Data Domain, Nvidia, VA Linux, and Verisity.

Brent’s current activities include overseeing investments in Palo Alto Networks, Solexel, Kovio, Aoptix Technologies, Clearwell Systems, AdMob, and Meraki among others. Brent currently serves on the board of directors for Zazzle, a Kleiner Perkins-backed portfolio company. Brent also serves as an advisory board member to US Venture Partners.

Active in the community, Brent is on the board of the Stanford Hospital Stroke Center, and also serves as a proud board member for the National Hockey League’s San Jose Sharks.

Brent played 12 years in the National Football League, including 11 with the San Francisco Forty-Niners where he was a four-time All-Pro performer and three-time Super Bowl champion. He was honored as the NFL's Bart Starr Award recipient in 1998 for outstanding character in the home, on the field, and in the community. He has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame for both Division I and Division II.

Brent earned his BS in Economics from the University of Santa Clara.

Jared has served as a Managing Director of Northgate since 2001. He serves on several advisory and company boards.

Prior to Northgate, Jared was an associate at Bain Capital, a leading alternative asset management firm. Prior to Bain Capital, Jared was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Jared earned his MBA, with high distinction as a Baker Scholar, from Harvard Business School. He holds a JD from Yale Law School, and a BA in Honors Economics from Brigham Young University, where he graduated valedictorian.

While at Yale, he co-founded the Amistad Academy, a New Haven-based charter school recognized by the Connecticut Board of Education and local, regional and national media for closing the achievement gap.

Tommy co-founded Northgate and has served as Managing Director since its inception. He serves on several venture capital advisory boards and oversees a series of firm portfolio company investments. Prior to the formation of Northgate, he was an independent investor in top-tier venture funds and an angel investor in a number of silicon valley start-ups.

Tommy earned his B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University At Stanford, he was honored as the top male scholar-athlete in the nation (GTE Academic All-American of the Year). He is also an inductee into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. Prior to forming Northgate, he played eight seasons at fullback for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and San Francisco 49ers.

Tommy is an advisor to Northpoint Financial, a real estate investment company, Stack Media, and Carden West Schools, and currently serves as a panelist for the Harris Interactive College Football Poll, which ranks the nation’s top 25 teams for the BCS (Bowl Championship Series).

Hosein has served as Managing Director and Head of Global Private Equity Investments of Northgate since 2004. He brings more than 20 years of finance and deep analytical experience to the firm, along with his leadership of Northgate’s London office. He serves on the Advisory boards of several private equity firms headquartered in the United States, Western Europe, Emerging Europe, Russia, India, China and Japan. In addition to his role at Northgate, he currently serves as a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company, the world’s leading management consulting firm, on private equity and asset management.

Prior to Northgate, Hosein served as Head of Global Private Equity Investments at the McKinsey Investment Office (MIO), a wholly owned subsidiary of McKinsey & Company. Before MIO, Hosein was a senior management consultant with the Private Equity and Asset Management Practices at McKinsey & Company. In this role, he was responsible for advising top global and European investment firms and government agencies about their respective private and public market investment strategies and capabilities. He also guided the leaders of top global investment firms about capability development, potential acquisitions, alliances, and restructurings.

Hosein co-led McKinsey’s Excellence in U.S. and European Private Equity, a landmark study and analysis of the investment and leadership strategies of leading private equity firms. In it, Hosein and his McKinsey colleagues identified the strategies of the sector’s top performers—as well as its worst—showing that only the best performers consistently beat the public markets. A frequent speaker and advisor for prestigious industry events, Hosein shares his expertise on areas ranging from private equity to risk management in public and private equity investments.

Mark has served as a Managing Director of Northgate since its inception. Prior to Northgate, Mark’s immersion into venture capital investing was at New Enterprise Associates and as an angel investor to a mix of Bay Area-based companies. He currently serves an advisory board member to several top private equity funds.

Prior to finance, Mark played four years in the National Football League with the San Francisco Forty-Niners.

He serves as an advisory board member to Kolibri Group, a group that purchases carbon credits (CERs and ERUs) directly from project sponsors in projects originating in developing countries and economies in transition. Mark serves on the advisory board of Ida Therm LLC, an Idaho-based geo-thermal venture.

Mark earned his BS in Psychology from Stanford University where he excelled athletically and academically, receiving All-Pac 10 athletic and academic honors.
